Clinical Study of Muscle Relaxants, Palvulon Pancuronium Bromide, in Anesthesia.

Abstract
In clinical studies, twenty patients undergoing surgical and gynecological operations requiring relaxation were administered pancuronium in dose of 0.08 mg/kg intravenously after the induction with sodium thiopental. Anesthesia was maintained with halothane, nitrous oxide and oxygen. To obtained exec Pent condition for the endotracheal intubation with this agent, a dose of 0.08mg/kg I. V. and the time of 3 to 5 minutes were required. The duration of good surgical relaxation with initial dose was in average 63 minutes and the repeated dose of pancuronium of 0. 08mg I. V. after the first dose lasted in average 52 minutes. Reversial with anticholinesterase at the end of anesthesia was satisfactory. No prolonged apnea and recurization were demonstrated in this series. There were slight changes of blood pressure and pulse rate 10 minutes after the administration of the drug, but these changes were transient and were not significantly different from the control values.
It is concluded that the equipotent dose of 1 mg of pancuronium is 34 mg of gallamine as the same degree of relaxation is obtained with these doses.
At 15 minutes after the end of anesthesia, the tidal volume and respiratory rate were slightly reduced but there was no tendency of respiratory.
